Printing Policies

General Printing and Plotting Policies:

  • If you are plotting your document to the plotter, you need to first Print a PDF, and then follow the “Plotting PDF-Req’d Workflow”.  If you plot directly from your original application, you will not be granted a reimbursement for plotting mistakes that may occur.

  • Only school provided paper can be used in the B&W/color photocopiers, Mylar printers, the color draft plotter, and all HP Z6800, T7100 and T7200 plotting devices. I understand that I may not remove paper from these devices, and if I do, I will be fined on a per incident basis.

  • Only school provided paper and pre-approved specialty papers are allowed in the Manual Feed plotters. For a comprehensive list of approved papers refer to the Manual Feed plotter website

  • Only approved materials can be cut or etched in the laser cutters. For a comprehensive list of approved materials, refer to the signage located in the laser cutter rooms.

  • Students will be responsible for the cost of any repairs or replacement of equipment if they attempt to use any unapproved paper or materials in any of the printing, plotting, or laser cutter devices and that I will be fined on a per incident basis.

  • Students will be responsible for the cost of any repair or replacement of equipment if they attempt to remove or replace any internal or external components including but not limited to inks, toner, print heads, fusers, paper rolls, and in addition, they will be fined on a per incident basis.

  • The HP Page Wide 5000 (the Color Draft Plotter)  prints with banding. This is inherent to the plotter and as such will not be refunded.

  • Students who use a print or plot for any type of presentation, critique, or for a class; even if it did not print or plot correctly, I will not be reimbursed for that print or plot.

  • Students have only 30 calendar days to request any printing reimbursement. After 30 calendar days all printing charges are final and will be billed to their Yale Bursar Account.
